This project was acquired from the same owner as 227 S. Locust. The 2800 sq foot house (plus basement) was in extremely poor condition. It was built in approximately 1967 and was clearly a 1950s house plan adapted to the neo-colonial style so popular at that time. We decided to take it back to its mid-century modern roots and replaced all the colonial-muntined windows with larger bronze full-view windows throughout. We removed all iron frillwork and either didn't replace it or used simple trim. Modern flush doors went on inside and out. The carport was enclosed into a garage. The formal living/dining/den were combined into one space that was opened to the kitchen and got a vaulted ceiling. An all-new modern kitchen in Olive green was installed along with three new bathrooms. Two bedrooms were combined into one large luxurious master suite. The basement was finished into a new rec room. And of course, all plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems were replaced with state-of-the art systems.
